Jenn is sound asleep next to me, finally. We've been sick round these here parts. I swear this is the year of the sickies!! It is getting really old.
We had a busy day today. I worked in the morning while Jenn ran a few errands. She picked me up after work and we headed over to the Landii's. There we split. Jenn went with Chris and the girls to another softball game. They won this one!! Yeah Fire!! Lyz, Joni and I went to Tara's baby shower!
This is why I am proud of myself. I felt great. It was wonderful!! I went to a baby shower! Not only that, but I went to Babies R (not for) Us before the shower and had fun!! Thank you for inviting me Tara. A lot of people would be afraid to invite a bitter infertile to their baby shower! I am very thankful you did, and very excited to bring you Cheeseburger Pie and meet little Carter when he is born.
When we got home I did have a melt down of classically huge proportions. I have tomorrow off from work. Tomorrow is also Jenn's first day back to work. What an odd day it will be. We are both very excited about this new job, but Jenn has basically been home with me for a year! She's always been available if I need her. It is going to be very odd. Although I do look forward to totally hogging the bed all morning long and sleeping until noon!! (that will totally make the day go faster).
Jenn-I wish you the best of luck at work tomorrow. I know you are totally going to rock at this job. You are going to meet lots of new wonderful people. Ignore the other stresses in our life right now, and focus on how excited you are about this job! I love you my sweet little Teapot!! Thank you for being so awesome!!

She looked so...happy
Jenn had her first fast pitch softball game last night. I'll admit it. I was nervous. She hasn't played softball with anyone over the age of 9 in about 10 years. I was worried that the thing Jenn defines herself as, athletic, would let her down. She is 10 years older and a little bit heavier.
I was wrong. Chris invited us over before the game so that he could help Jenn practice. They went to the park nearby and he hit grounders and pitched to her. When they came back only Chris walked through the door. I asked him if he killed her and he said "No, but she almost killed me!" Jenn had hit a ball back at him when he was pitching, right into his leg. It looks quite painful. But at least she got a hit right?? Thank you so much Chris for helping her. It meant a lot to her.
Then we were off to the game. All of her teammates are so young!! She is the team grandma!! Lyz had gone over to visit her before the game started and several of the girls asked if Lyz was her wife, and since Lyz had Delaney with her the assumed that Delaney was their daughter. Jenn explain that Lyz is her sister and Delaney her niece. (I of course shied away from meeting the team at the first game...maybe tonight.)
Then the game started. Jenn played 3rd base. Now Jenn is by no means your average 3rd base woman. She is a lefty, and only 5'3". But let me tell you, she did an awesome job. All of my nervousness quickly washed away and I sat there beaming. I was so proud of my Teapot for doing so well!!
She batted well too. She made contact both times. Chris said the first time that she would have had a single if the girls they were playing couldn't do the splits. And at her 2nd at bat she got on base but it was a fielder's choice so she says it doesn't count. Lyz and I took a vote. It counts in our book.
She also had a couple of great plays on defense (is that the right terminology? My dad is totally rolling his eyes. He taught his daughter sports better than that xxoo). She got a girl out at home and Chris jumped out and screamed "Way to go Jenn". And even cuter, Jenn turned around and gave us a thumbs up.
I loved watching her play. Since I moved out here I have been begging her to get on a team. There was always some reason not to. Work, coaching the girls, something. But this team works out. Either evenings or Sunday. And even though she starts working on Monday, she will still be able to make her games.
Joni, Chris, Lyz, Avery and Delaney also came to watch Jenn play. It meant the world to both of us. The game didn't even start until 8:30, but they were all there, cheering Jenn on. It was so wonderful to have our family there. Our little mishmosh family!! Delaney wasn't too interested in the game, but the leaves were sure fun to watch!
I did have a little moment of panic. The pitcher got a ball hit right at her head and I flashed back to the olden days of watching my Aunt Kari playing softball. We were at a tournament in Battle Creek, MI right at the start of my Grandmother's Alzheimers. Kari was running home and the third base woman threw the ball and it wailed through the air into the back of Kari's head. She was unconscious. I was so torn over leaving my Grandma alone in the stands or running to Kari's assistance! Kari was fine, thankfully. But I was so scared. Now I have to worry that Jenn might get hurt.
The flashback was neat in a way too. Remembering all of the fun times watching Kari play! I thought her teammates were so much fun! And Kari would take me on tournaments with her and the team always treated me like a little mascot. Ahh, the days of innocence when nothing is wrong in the world.
When the game was over (they lost, bad, but still all had a blast) Jenn and I got into the car and I looked at her. She was so happy. I haven't seen that happy Jenn face since January 10, 2008. It was back last night. I had a hard time keeping my emotions in check. I cannot explain to you how wonderful it felt to me to see her like that again. Yes, she is happy most of the time. But last night was the truly nothing can stop her smile face. It warmed me right through.

A wonderful weekend!!
Our weekend started out great!! Avery came over Friday night and spent the night. We had tons of fun watching Spongebob and eating grapes in bed. Saturday morning we went out to breakfast before heading over to the Landii's house to get ready for Lyz's party!!!!!
Everything went quite smoothly. There wasn't much we could do until right before the party started...then of course things were hectic, but we did quite a fine job of getting all of the food prepared and out the door on time.
The party was quite a blast. There was horseshoes, beer pong, a whole kids are was set up to keep the little ones happy. Chris used the family pig roaster to grill up hamburgers and hotdogs. We stayed up until about 2:30am in the backyard hanging around the firepit making smores...YUM!!
Just a few pictures. I'd have more but first I couldn't find the batteries, and then I just kinda forgot.
Singing Happy Birthday:
Blowing out the candles:
Party Guests:
Tara and her absolutely beautiful belly!!!:
Louisa and the yummy cake:
(and see that woman in the background with the khaki shorts and the greenish-blue tee-shirt? She spent the ENTIRE party hitting on Jenn. It was quite funny to watch.)
And this is what happens when you start taking pictures after you have already had a few drinks:
(and for the record, I was not behind the camera)
Happy 30th Birthday my dearest Lyz. You mean the world to me. I am so thankful to have you back in my life. LOVE YOU!!!

Avery's Tap Recital
Friday, May 29--Avery's Tap Recital
I love me some little girls all dressed up in the cutest of outfits dancing!!!!! It seriously touches me. They are all cute and happy and confused. They were all doing different routines, or watching each other to see what the others were doing..
I also enjoyed the older girls. My favorite dance of theirs was the en pointe (is that how you spell it?) :

But the best little dancer of them all was our Avery. They danced to "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile":

Grand Finale:

Lyz "coaching" Avery in her dance steps:

Other cute pictures from the day (See, we got there two hours early to reserve our front row seats!):

Seeing her name in the program:

And of course, a slice of Blueberry Pie, because Blue goes everywhere with us...

I went to the animal fair***
When you don't have kids you can sometimes lose out on some of the fun activities that people with kids have an excuse to do. Which is why we so often borrow other peoples children. You know, to go to water parks...or kids museums??
We headed out to the Circus yesterday. I love me some circus. (Please don't give me a hard time about animal cruelty.) I really didn't think that it would be an issue with my head at all. But I spent a lot of time at the circus trying not to cry. There were so many adorable children looking at their parents and smiling with that thank you for bringing me here smile. I was sad. It was very sad to look at them and know that on our laps should have been an 11 month old. He should have been there smiling and watching and looking at the lights and being all excited.
Anywho...we still had a good time. Thankfully Avery wanted to sit on my lap for a little bit so I got to share some excitement with a child, just not my own.
Pictures?? I've got them :)
Elephants:

Tigers:

Penguins (aka clowns):

Guys on stilts:

Guys on motorcycles:

Kids eating cotton candy:

And people who were really only looking forward to lunch at Red Robin afterwards:

***Mom...it is a song we used to sing in Girl Scouts!!

Just passing through the emotional tides
Seriously. I felt it all yesterday.
The Crankies: I'm only one person. I cannot do it all. I cannot make everyone happy at the same time, including myself.
The Thankfuls: Oh look...a new package in the mail...this one full of hcg drugs!!! Lori most certainly loves me.
The Fear: I hope I don't let Lori and everyone else down if we don't get pregnant, or kill yet another child.
The "oh forget it, let's just not have kids": Felt while walking through a carnival with teenagers everywhere. Teenagers. I don't want one of them. I just want the cute kid...nothing past 12 thank you very much.
The "hmm, that one looks to be about 11 months old, I wonder if that is what Blue would look like now?"s: Self explanatory.
The severely happies: Watching Avery and Delaney have fun at the carnival.
The pride: Jenn has been invited to play on a women's fast pitch softball team.
The sighs: I am so sick of being tired and tired of being sick.
The jealousies: Jenn and Lyz went for a jog last night. I wish I had the urge to do such a thing. I don't think that even if I could breathe right I wouldn't jog...just walking along behind them would be good enough for me. But it is so much more than that. I just don't have the desire to fix myself. I want that urge like Jenn and Lyz had last night. (I don't want to be pushed though either girls...I'll just get the crankies back lol)
I just felt it all. And to be honest it was quite draining. I played with Avery and Delaney while Jenn and Lyz jogged. It was fun. Only 10 minutes, so it isn't like that gave me the slightest hint at what motherhood is like. But it was really fun to juggle them. To make sure Delaney was happy while Avery and I did the "fill up the fishbowl with water and magic" dance for the goldfish she won at the fair (with Jenn's help, if I don't mention that Jenn will be sad). It was fun. I was kinda sad that Jenn and Lyz were back so quickly! But proud of them for being out there jogging!!
Anywho. I realize that this was a big old post about nothing, but I haven't posted all week so I thought that I should write something. Something is better than nothing. Ramble ramble blah blah?

Jenn's Birthday and Hershey's Chocolate World
Jenn's 34th Birthday

That is a cake made out of Long Johns. They are peanut butter and chocolate frosted doughnuts.
Avery got Jenn a SpongeBob cd...I'm not sure who was more excited about it!

We went to Shady Maple:

And much Beer Pong was played:

It was a Happy Birthday!!
Hershey's Chocolate World
Lyz's cousin Sarah came to visit. We met her last year in Florida and thought she was great fun!! So we all met up and went to Red Robin for lunch and then for a visit to Chocolate World.
My favorite part of Chocolate world is the cows...they sing such a happy little song:

We all enjoyed the Chocolate World Ride...especially the free chocolate bar at the end:

Joni, Sarah, Avery and Jenn also made some Hershey's Kisses (Delaney just enjoyed the hat):

Softball game...and a small, TTC related, panic attack.
We won our softball game again tonight!! That makes us 3-0. Tonight's game was especially awesome because every single girl hit and got on base!! It was so awesome to see their happy faces!!!! And the parents faces being so proud of their girls!
I was very proud of Belle...not only did she do an awesome job pitching, but she several good plays in the infield with catching or throwing the balls!!

To be honest though, I think Jenn did more pitching than any of the girls on either team! (If a girl gets 4 balls thrown to her, instead of walking, her coach comes out and pitches to her)
A few of our girls had to leave early, and that left us with only one outfielder. Very rarely does the ball actually get hit into the outfield, so we used a substitute...Avery!

(We sent Chris out with her just to be safe)
On to the panic. Last night I had a minor meltdown. We watched the movie The Business of Being Born. It was very interesting, didn't really didn't teach me anything that I didn't already know, but it was fun to watch! I will never have the peaceful home birth in a pool that I wanted. I'm too high risk now with the losses, and my advanced maternal age. And besides, at this point I want all the fetal monitoring I can get my hands on. But I do still want it to be somewhat peaceful
But today, in fact 10 minutes ago I had a whole new panic. All of our paperwork is in and we are ready to order our swimmers from the new sperm bank that we will be using. I got the email tonight. That means that this week we took two steps towards the TTC front. I've been trying to slowly enter my way back into the TTC world...two steps in one week is a little much for me!! (step one was receiving my wonderful package of drugs from Lori!) All will be well though.
This means that everything is a go. Sperm...check. Drugs...check. Woah. All we are waiting on now is my period...I say we have about two weeks to go before that shows up, since I'm not on drugs. We've bought our tickets, we are just waiting for the train to pull into the station!!

Softball and Snoring
Our second softball game was last night. I seriously love watching these girls improve even day to day!! I also love watching Elissa, Lyz and Jenn coach. I love watching Chris umpire. And well Avery she just makes the cutest batgirl ever!!
Jenn pitching (When the other team's pitcher throws four balls, instead of walking the girl our coaches pitch to them...usually Jenn gets this honor!):

Belle pitching:

We won again!!! Our girls rock!
After the game Belle and Avery decided to show us how to slide:
And were very dirty afterwards:

Group Photo (opps, missing Chris and Jenn):

I am sure you wonder what snoring has to do with softball right? Well my job during yesterday's game was upgraded from bookkeeper, to baby sleeper. I held Delaney in my arms while she slept. I walked with her if she fussed (and Lyz of course calmed her too). I spent a good hour holding her in my arms. She was snuggled all deep into my chest, with her blanked wrapped around her. I refused to sit down. I used the excuse that I was worried it would wake her up, but really, I just wanted to be alone with her. To feel what it is like to hold her for so long. To smell her without anyone talking or inturrupting. Well, I inturrupted myself to be honest. I was watching little girls play softball! It is very hard not to cheer when they do something great! And I couldn't cheer very loud because it would startle Delaney.
At one point I heard her snuffling. I was all concerned that my boobs were suffocating her, or her blanket was too close to her face. Nope. She was snoring. It was the sweetest little noise I have ever heard!!! I took her around to everyone to make them listen to the sweet sound. It was so beautiful.
When I handed her back to Lyz as the game was ending Lyz said "Your arms have to be killing you." Not in the least. They relished in knowing what it felt like to comfort Delaney for so long.

Friendly Hotel Front Desk Clerk goes on a field trip and First Softball Game
Rodney, my wonderful boss was not so wonderful as usual yesterday and forced me to go on an Amish tour. I have lived in Lancaster for almost 12 years now and have gotten away with never going on a formal tour. Sigh.
To be honest, it wasn't as bad as Jenn and I thought it would be. Yes, Jenn went too, I refused to go alone! We did the tour with three old couples. They asked some really fun questions :) Like at every single one room schoolhouse we passed "Is that the one where all the kids were killed?" No, they burned that school down. Now, once you are told that they burned something down, why must you ask at every single school "Is that the one?" NO THEY BURNED IT DOWN!!!" In answer to the question, yes, we do live very near to the school that the shooting occurred at. When people ask me where it is at The Hotel, I refuse to answer. I see no reason why the Amish should be disrupted when they have already forgiven the man.
Anywho...we had more fun than we thought we would. Jenn got to see some animals. She LOVES animals. If we ever win the lottery we will totally live on a farm. A little farm with just a few animals and lots of saved dogs and cats.

On the tour we made a stop at an Amish business where the father runs a furniture making business. The furniture looks just like wood but is made out of recycled milk cartons. Jenn and I fell in love with a piece and are now saving up our monies to buy it:

Ignore the red and blue tables. The two chairs both rock on their own, and the table in the middle stays stationary. We will pick a different color than the boring tan...but I cannot wait to buy it and sit on our front porch like the boring old couple we are!!
The Mountville Strikers had their first game last night...and they WON!!! I love to watch them play! I love to watch Elissa, Jenn and Lyz coach them. I got the wonderful job of keeping score. I am not very good at my job, but I am the only one available to do it so I just do my best.
Jenn and Elissa coaching:

Lyz and Delaney coaching and Avery (#19 and no, that isn't her last name) as batgirl:

Chris being the umpire: (He takes his job very seriously, it is very cute to watch)

Yeah Team!!

Yeah Team!!
